Finn Dunn hat die Chance, mit seinem Talent berühmt zu werden, doch seiner Freundin zuliebe überlässt er ihr sein eigenes Lied. Er findet jedoch heraus, dass sie eine Affäre mit Jim Swan hatte, kurz bevor dieser auf tragische Weise bei einem Autounfall ums Leben kommt. Unerwarteterweise bedeutet der Tod für Finn nicht das Ende. Als er aufwacht, steht er genau an dem Tag wieder auf der Bühne, an dem er seine Freundin zum Star gemacht hat. Dieses Mal beschließt er, nicht denselben Fehler zu begehen, und schwört, das zurückzufordern, was ihm rechtmäßig zusteht.

Finn Dunn, now back in the past, decides to reclaim his rightful place in the music industry. He confronts his girlfriend, who had been having an affair with Jim Swan, and refuses to give her his song. As Finn prepares to perform his original song "江南", his girlfriend tries to stop him, revealing that she had been passing off his work as her own. With the truth out, Finn's girlfriend tries to salvage her reputation by asking him to withdraw from the competition, but Finn is resolute in his determination to succeed.
