Many years ago, Joy saved the marshal, Jacob Land, but by some mistake, Nina, her sister, stole the credit. It led to a misunderstanding forming between Jacob and Joy, despite them being engaged. Jacob began hating Joy, and for his beloved Nina, he forced Joy to give her blood to Nina as treatment. Because of it, Joy ended up becoming crippled. However, Jacob’s father, Evan, made sure Jacob and Joy remained engaged, and this meant that Jacob continued hurting Joy.
