Twenty years ago, the Gales' maid accidentally mistook the sedative for a nutritional supplement and injected it into Connor Gale's newborn daughter, causing the baby's death. Feared to be blamed, the maid found another baby to replace the child and abandoned the original daughter in the middle of the mountains. Surprisingly, the daughter didn't die but was rescued and raised by Mary Cooper, who went there to bury her deceased child. Twenty years later, Zoe Cooper works at Gale Group. However, her humble origins lead to relentless mistreatment by Natalie Gale, the impostor who usurped her place in the Gale family. Natalie goes as far as falsely accusing Zoe of theft and subjecting her to constant humiliation.
