- Ep. 1Laurent and Joanie grew up together in an orphanage, making a promise that Laurent would one day give her a better life. Years later, Laurent has become successful and is searching for Joanie. He finally finds her information through a reliable source and decides to cancel a major project's bidding meeting to go find her. He wants to make her the happiest woman in the world and is willing to give her a grand gift - a billion-dollar construction project. However, it seems Laurent has mistaken someone else for Joanie, as he refers to "馨儿" (Xin Yao) instead of Joanie.
- Ep. 2Peggy and Benjamin discuss sending Joanie away now that their real daughter Joanna has been found. Peggy is cold-hearted, viewing Joanie as just a replacement for their lost child. Benjamin reminds her of the past when they were depressed after losing their daughter, and how adopting Joanie helped them cope. However, Peggy is resolute in her decision to get rid of Joanie, even suggesting that they tell her biological parents that the previous paternity test was incorrect. The conversation reveals a dark family secret: Peggy had falsified documents to claim Joanie as their own when her real parents came looking for her years ago. Now, with Joanna back, Peggy wants to discard Joanie like a doll, showing no regard for her well-being or feelings. The scene ends with Peggy ordering Joanie to pack her bags and leave the house immediately.
- Ep. 3Joanie is being forced to leave the Francis household after their real daughter Joanna is found. The family turns against her, and Joanna resents Joanie for living the life that should have been hers. As Joanie packs her belongings, she asks to take a photo of her with the Francises as a keepsake. However, Joanna refuses, saying that Joanie doesn't deserve it and that she's only trying to use the photo to deceive others. The argument escalates, with Joanna insulting Joanie and telling her to leave immediately. Just as things are getting out of hand, Laurent arrives, mistaking Joanna for his childhood friend Joanie.
- Ep. 4Joanie's adoptive mother, Peggy, reveals her true feelings, telling Joanie that she was only a replacement for her own daughter, Joanna. Peggy's attitude towards Joanie changes drastically after Joanna is found, and she becomes cold and unemotional. Joanie is hurt by Peggy's words, having considered her as her loving mother. Peggy explains that she treated Joanie well because she thought of her as her own daughter, but now that Joanna is back, Joanie is no longer needed. The conversation ends with Peggy's harsh statement, leaving Joanie feeling unloved and unwanted.
- Ep. 5Joanie confronts her adoptive parents, Peggy and Benjamin Francis, expressing her feelings of being used as a replacement for their lost daughter. She accuses them of not truly loving her and only keeping her to fill the emotional void. Joanna, the Francises' real daughter, returns and resents Joanie for living the life that should have been hers. The atmosphere is tense, with both women exchanging harsh words. Meanwhile, news arrives that Laurent's company, Story Group, is planning to invest a billion-dollar construction project with the Francis family. This development brings excitement and anticipation, as it could bring great wealth and prosperity to the family. However, amidst the chaos, Joanie feels increasingly unwelcome and unloved by her adoptive family.

The video delves into themes of familial replacement and identity theft, mirroring Dickens' "Great Expectations" where expectations扭曲亲情与身份的主题,反映了狄更斯的《远大前程》中对家庭替代和身份偷换的探讨。
**Review:**
Familial betrayal and deceit weave through this tale, echoing the shadows of secrets in *Great Expectations*.

**Review:**
"The Ghost of Childhood Promises" echoes the troubled dynamics seen in "The Picture of Dorian Gray," exploring deceit, childhood bonds, and the haunting repercussions of past lies.
(This review highlights themes of betrayal and the weight of childhood promises, drawing parallels with Oscar Wilde's novel for a poignant critique.)
