Lingling excitedly tells her mother about their day, from the kindergarten visit to the fair and the delicious dinner Chuck cooked. • Ep. 5
  Chuck Howe, now determined to change his past, takes his daughter Lingling out to sell balloons to earn money. When they return home, Lingling’s mother accuses her of lying about their activities, believing Chuck’s influence is corrupting their daughter. Lingling insists she’s telling the truth, but her mother remains skeptical, overwhelmed by the pain Chuck’s past actions have caused. Chuck steps in, defending Lingling and showing the money they earned, proving their honesty. Despite this, Lingling’s mother remains bitter, unable to forgive Chuck for the trauma he inflicted. The tension between them grows as Chuck struggles to rebuild trust and provide a better life for his family.
