• Ep. 1

Meanwhile, Qin Shu's stepmother belittles her, comparing her unfavorably to Wang Yilin, who is set to marry the wealthy Fu Linchen. The stepmother complains about Qin Shu's worthlessness and how she has become a burden, even forcing her to work as a maid at the Fu household to earn money.

  Qin Shu is questioned about a necklace that belongs to the Fu family. It's revealed that the necklace has Fu Linchen's name on it and is meant for his future wife. Qin Shu's stepmother tries to persuade her to take Wang Yilin's place as the future Mrs. Fu, promising that their family will prosper if she does. However, Fu Linchen intervenes, revealing that he is a doctor and needs to take care of his grandmother, who is unwell. He warns his brother that if anything happens to their grandmother, he will be held responsible. The tension between the family members is palpable as they argue over Qin Shu's presence in their lives.
