Modern medical doctor Dorothy Beaumont unexpectedly finds herself transported to the Shalior Empire as an overlooked and foolish princess. Immediately thrust into danger, she is drugged and, in the ensuing chaos, uses a handgun to save Sterling Windsor, the Northern Lord. Seizing the opportunity while he is vulnerable, she spends a passionate night with him. The next day, Dorothy hurriedly escapes but forgets to take her handgun. When Sterling wakes up and discovers the gun, he sets out to find Dorothy to learn how to replicate it. However, in a twist of fate, he mistakenly captures another woman, Beatrice Young, believing she is Dorothy, and brings her back to the palace. Beatrice takes advantage of this mix-up, flaunting her false identity and making life difficult for Dorothy, but Dorothy skillfully counters every challenge, causing Beatrice to ultimately undermine herself. While Sterling pretends to favor Beatrice, he secretly develops feelings for Dorothy and, to protect her, he endures the situation quietly. The King, wary of Sterling’s growing power, ignores the plight of the people during an enemy invasion, preventing Sterling from going to battle. To confront the tyrant king and save the citizens, Sterling, with Dorothy’s assistance, regains control of the military and rescues the people from peril. In the end, Sterling ascends to the throne, with Dorothy by his side as empress. They abolish the harem system and commit to a life together, united as one.
